Tyler's First Blog

My name is Tyler, I was born and raised in Oregon for the first 19 years of my life where I lived in Philomath Oregon. Upon graduating from Philomath High School, I joined the Marine Corps where I spent the next 4 years of my life on Camp Pendleton in Southern California. I did one tour to Afghanistan in 2012 where I did multiple convoys resupplying forward operating bases (FOBs) for multiple months. I moved back to Oregon in 2015 once my military contract was up. I spent a year in Beaverton and attended Portland Community College (PCC) at the Rock Creek Campus for one year taking general education classes. I was a store manager for a year at a shoe store before moving to an environmental hazmat emergency responds company between 2020 and 2023. After those three years I decided to come back to LBCC to work towards a BA in Practical Business Management.

During the Summer months I try to be outdoors as much as possible. I have even hiked over 500 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail in 2016 and this past Summer I hiked the Mt. Hood perimeter trail as well. I camp, float, paddleboard, wakeboard, and go shooting as often as possible. I have even started going to defensive pistol competitions to improve on my shooting skills. During the Winter months I try to do a bit of snowboarding when I can but usually sit inside sipping top shelf bourbon, my favorites at the moment are Blanton's, Chattanooga, and a Ewing Young bourbon finished in a pinot noir barrel which is a local company out of Newburg. My bourbon collection has grown quite a bit over the last two years finding allocated (hard to acquire) bourbons from stores all over the valley. My current pride and joy bottle was winner an OLCC chance to purchase bottle of Eagle Rare 17-year-old bourbon with a retail price of $125 and a second market value of $2000. I hope to have a killer whiskey room one day with all of my collected bottles over the years.

My goals over the next year are to finish my two-year degree here at LB, finishing in the Spring before moving out to Knoxville TN, with my girlfriend and orange cat whose name is John, John is a bro. Beyond that I hope to eventually own my own business but currently have not committed to one business venture. I am currently playing with the idea of buying an already established gym in Knoxville in the next 5 years.
